| No, that's not a scene from Alice in Wonderland. It's the waiting area at the new Ann Reid Early Childhood Center in Naperville designed by Wight & Co. The 45k SF, 300-child center serves three to five-year-olds and is the first LEED Silver building focused exclusively on early childhood education. Lamp Inc was the general contractor on the project. The kids will have lots of windows to let in the daylight and opportunities to watch the rain fall on the stone pathways that infiltrate it into a basin for reuse. The space also includes sustainable cushions and millwork for the students tosnuggle in while they learn to read. First youth, and now comfort—both wasted on the young. |
