Field 1 – Retailers 7, Colliers 0: The Retail defense put forth its second shutout in a row. It was almost as if they recruited the Green Monster on the left side of the infield. Jose Gonzalez, Andrew Becker, and Pete Scannell were flawless with nothing getting by them, and “Hip Hip Jose” also helped the team offensively hitting a three-run donger midway through the game to give a cushioned 4-0 lead.

Field 2 – JF McKinney 14, JLL 2: The score was tied after one but then JFM left JLL in the dust and ended the onslaught after six innings. Kyle Hanson turned back the clock playing SS for the injured Tommy Koleno. On the offensive side, Dan Murphy hit his league-leading 9th triple (at least five of those should have been homers). John Clifford, back from recent surgery, pitched a great game and fielded quite well.

Field 3 – Inland 19, Transwestern 15: In a game devoid of defense, Inland prevailed over the Transfusions. Though the team entered the 3rd up 7-5, tragedy struck when cap Mike Janus went down with a knee injury whose profanity-laced aftermath was heard around the city. But Inland prevailed with a crushing five-spot in the bottom of the 6th. Standout TW players: Bobby Wood, Zach Fox, John Joyce.

Field 4: Eastdil 10, Bradford Allen 1: Eastdil’s Tim Pettit crushed another homer and Casey Wold’s pitching confounded BA batters for most of the evening, with Bob Johnson and Jack Wold providing circus catches in the outfield to prevent any rallies. The Pickles have offered the league one of their office tower listings to avoid an investigation into their hot streak, but the commish is standing firm.

Field 5 – Klein’s Corporate 12, CBRE 1: It’s been a tough year for both teams. The night belonged to Klein’s as every player got at least one hit, and even Richie Commish knocked in two runs and scored once. Brian Silverman went 3-3, two runs scored and one ribbie. The Klein’s defense also decided to show up including two phenomenal pick offs from pitcher and catcher.

Field 6 – CTK Chicago Partners 16, Cresa 6: CTK’s Keith “Goose” Gosse was pitching like the ace he is while holding Cresa scoreless in frames 2-5. The team turned a couple double plays, played really solid D after the first inning, and everyone was hitting. Nate “Dogg” Buttrey scored three runs from the one spot and Dennis also came around to score three times from the bottom of the lineup.

Field 7 – Golub 13, MB Real Estate 5: The Goo Goo Dolls kept a perfect season intact with an impressive win. Veteran Guy Greco made his season debut and started a nine-run 5th inning with a key two-out, two-strike, two-run single to right center field. Steve Degodny continued his clutch hitting as well as Soup Cambell, and Golub’s defense got tighter as the game went on.
