Field 1 – Golub 15, DTZ 9: Golub beat DTZ to stay undefeated at 3-0. Its veterans carried the day, like third baseman Jeff Bruce, who went 3-4 at the plate and made two outstanding plays in the infield. Golub looks awfully good right now. DTZ captain Tim Lisy (above, with his dad) opined that DTZ does not want to peak too soon. Nothing to worry about there, Timmy!

Field 2 – JLL 14, CTK Partners 13: It was a hard-fought battle in which JLL prevailed and CTK failed in its attempt to stay above .500. It was a heartbreaker for CTK as they led most of the way, but a late-inning defensive lapse allowed nine unearned runs for JLL. With the mad man D-rock (Derrick) on the mound throwing darts from the skies, JLL’s D held tough and pulled off the win in seven.

Field 3 – Bradford Allen 14, Transwestern 3: BA notched its first win of the season with a pasting of the Transponders on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 6th by rookie Matt Wright. Old Man Higdon maintains his bragging rights over brother Jimmy and nephew Ben for another year! Hopefully TW will be able to grab some help off the waiver wire.

Field 4 – Inland 21, Eastdil 2: Knowing that Inland’s big Week 1 victory followed by an off week could be a recipe for disaster, GM Mike Janus knew he needed to keep the team’s focus a priority. He added a third pillar to the team’s trademark Pillars of Focus. In addition to “Aggressive on the Basepaths” and “Power,” the team is said to have added “Never Satisfied."

Field 5 – MBRE 7, CBRE 2: MBRE stifled a suddenly very vulnerable CBRE team with solid defense and timely hitting, scoring runs in five out of seven innings. Bill Klump won game MVP honors for reaching base four consecutive times and playing flawless shortcenter, capping his night by starting a game-ending double play, nipping Mitch Adams by a hair at first.

Field 6 – Colliers 23, JF McKinney 13: Colliers stepped back into the win column with some big bats and this convincing defeat of JFM, which must have had its mind on the après party. Plus, new pitcher for JFM Big Red John Clifford is still recovering from a sprained pinkie and could not cover home.

Field 7 – Cushman & Wakefield 10, Klein’s Corporate 5: Despite Klein’s defensive meltdown in the 5th and 6th, there’s good news. They scored more than two runs and Johnny “Cocktail” Gaines returned from a separated shoulder, going 2-3 with a run scored, ditto for left fielder Russ Steinberg. Team cap Klein reached base 3-3.
