The Chicago Architecture Biennial is extending its reach for its second edition. The Biennial received funding from the Chicago Community Trust to establish "community anchors" at six museums across the city.

The participating museums are:

• The Beverly Arts Center in the Far South Side Beverly neighborhood

• The DePaul Art Museum in Lincoln Park

• The DuSable Museum of African American History in Washington Park

• The Hyde Park Art Center in Hyde Park

• National Museum of Mexican Art

• National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture

The purpose of establishing these community anchors is twofold. The Biennial wants to extend its reach into the city's outlying neighborhoods with programs, exhibitions and events at each museum, while encouraging the Biennial audience to visit the museums and hopefully explore the surrounding architecture of the neighborhoods these museums call home.

The Chicago Architecture Biennial starts Sept. 16. This year's edition is being curated by architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee. Over 100 architects and designers from 30 countries will participate.
