An office building was demolished on an outparcel of SouthPark Mall Thursday to make room for ZOM Living’s Hazel luxury apartments.

Charlotte-based RCI Demolition is in charge of the office building teardown at 4401 Barclay Downs Drive. The demolition will take about a week, and 99% of the materials will be recycled.

The six-story, 203-unit building at 4401 Barclay Downs Drive will feature a ground-level 6K SF restaurant and 8K SF of boutique retail.

An additional 8,400 SF of amenity space on the ground floor and a rooftop pool deck will be available for residents. The property will be adjacent to the 1.6M SF mall.

“We believe there’s tremendous demand for intimate, highly amenitized, and highly serviced apartments located in great live-work-play environments, and Hazel SouthPark will bring a new level of quality, unit features and amenities to this market,” ZOM Development Executive for the Carolinas Darryl Hemminger said in a statement.
