Codemasters, the developer and publisher behind F1 2019, the official game of the FIA Formula One World Championship, has chosen Birmingham for a new 14K SF design studio.
Codemasters will take space in CEG's 196K SF Alpha Tower, Suffolk Street, Queensway, for more than 100 staff, marking a return to the city where the business began.
As well as working on the award-winning F1 game, Codemasters will also pursue other racing titles like Dirt, Gamereactor reports.
The studio will be fitted with the most up-to-date games technology including a race simulator.
Codemasters said its choice of Birmingham was a vote of confidence in the local tech workforce, making it the ideal place to expand.
Birmingham is already a major hub for the UK gaming industry. Later this spring the city will host one of the world's largest multiplayer games conventions, ESL One Birmingham. Twelve teams will battle for a $300K prize pool at the city's Arena. The event focuses on Dota 2, a multiplayer online battle arena video game published by Valve Corp.
