The rampant growth of a marketing and video company targeting law firms has prompted its CEO to buy its own office building in Atlanta's Westside.

Crisp Video Group purchased 1874 Defoor Ave., a 50K SF former brick warehouse building in the Upper Westside, 2.5 miles north of the new Westside Park. Crisp paid $20M and is moving from a smaller facility at 2282 Defoor Ave., CEO Michael Mogill said.

After a search, which included potentially moving to other cities, Mogill told Bisnow he decided to stay in the same area for his current employees and to be able to hire more as the company grows.

“Find me 50K SF surrounded by townhomes and 120 parking spaces in Midtown,” he said.

Crisp now has 70 employees, up from 15 in 2017 when it used just 4K SF. Mogill said he plans to grow Crisp to 100 employees over the next year.

Crisp produces marketing videos for law firms and handles marketing and business coaching for the legal industry. Mogill, the author of the book The Game Changing Attorney, said the firm earns $50M annually. The new facility includes a 20K SF training space and a film studio and podcast room.

Mogill's company was remote during the coronavirus pandemic, and Crisp now has a flexible schedule of three days a week in the office for employees.

“We found that most are coming into the office most days,” he said. “They were excited. They weren't coming into an old back office with a bunch of cubicles. So for many of them, they would rather be here.”
