Norfolk Southern Expands to Colony Square

Colony Square is the temporary home to Norfolk Southern's Atlanta operations as the railroad firm restacks its Promenade offices.

Norfolk Southern has leased 130k SF at Tishman Speyer's Midtown office complex for an unspecified short-term basis while it rearranges its central offices at Promenade, sources tell us. The company was mum on the moves, with company spokesperson Rick Harris telling us “Norfolk Southern generally does not comment on real estate transactions or speculation about them.” And officials with Tishman Speyer did not return calls. The larger question is whether the new lease was inked in an effort to accommodate an influx of employees from Virginia. According to a recent CoStar story, Norfolk Southern is shuttering its Roanoke office operations and is in the process of moving an unspecified number of its 500 employees there to either Atlanta or its HQ in Norfolk.
