NCR Voyix, the digital commerce firm that resulted from the recent split of NCR Corp., is requiring employees working at the 14-story Midtown headquarters at 864 Spring St. NW to report back five days a week beginning May 6, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Employees will be given 40 flexible days to work remotely with approval from a manager, NCR Voyix CEO David Wilkinson said in a memo circulated to staff on March 28, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported. Wilkinson added that some employees already designated as virtual and remote will remain so.

“This is a pivotal time for us as a new company, and I believe we work better when we are together,” Wilkinson wrote in the memo, according to The AJC.

It was unclear how many employees work in the 277K SF tower, one of two that NCR occupied when it was a united company.

“My goal is to make in-person team collaboration a priority so our daily innovation, strategy and execution are the best they can be for our customers and each other,” Wilkinson wrote in the memo, according to the ABC.

NCR Voyix is the fourth-largest financial technology company in Georgia with about 2,200 employees, per the ABC. In October, NCR split itself into two independent publicly traded companies, Voyix and NCR Atleos, which is focused on the ATM business.

Before the split, NCR listed the entirety of 864 Spring St. for sublease, one of the largest blocks of contiguous, unused corporate space to hit the market.

JLL Senior Managing Director Brooke Dewey told Bisnow this weekend that she is still marketing the south tower of NCR's two-building, 765K SF Midtown campus, but declined to comment further.

While more companies are cracking down on hybrid work mandates to force employees back to the office more often, NCR Voyix is a rarity in the Fortune 500 to require a full-time return. Boeing, Goldman Sachs and UPS, another major Atlanta employer, have also pivoted to full-time back for office staff over the past year.

NCR Voyix's return-to-office policy is focused on the headquarters for the moment, but the firm plans to draw its 15,000-member workforce back to offices in 34 other countries in phases, the AJC reported.
