Details on MAC's 191 Move

For the Metro Atlanta Chamber, its move to 191 Peachtree Tower is all about that space, 'bout that space. No cubicles. MAC announced it's moving to 25k SF in the 1.2M SF Peachtree Tower, owned by Cousins Properties, vacating its longtime home off Centennial Olympic Park after the Georgia World Congress Center Authority purchased it as part of a greenspace expansion plan. 40% of the Chamber's 75-member workforce is Millennials, and the move allows it to cater to the whims big companies have been embracing to attract and retain talented young folks—which includes a location with lots of amenities.

“The Millennials are becoming more of the workforce that we're trying to attract and retain,” says Corporate Environment's Karen Hughes, a chamber board member who also helped with the design of the office layout and furniture. “More so than any client perhaps I work with, they were very concerned about engaging their employees in the office.” While the Chamber is reducing its footprint by nearly half at 191, Karen says it wanted the office to be open and have an “active engaging area that encourages collaboration.” The space was designed by Heery International.

So instead of big cubicles, MAC chose to go with what Karen called workstations: partitioned work areas with an open view to the whole floor. The entire single-floor space has been designed for meetings and functions and Chamber programs (and not just Millennials). After all, MAC hosts more than 500 chamber members, business leaders and leaders from other states each week. And unlike in its previous facility, 191's space allows the chamber to have a bird's-eye view of the city's skyline.
