John Barton Lands At HFF

Parkway Properties' former top man in Atlanta has landed a new gig—selling Atlanta real estate.

John Barton has landed as managing director of HFF's Atlanta office, working alongside Ralph Smalley. It's a surprising move for John—who spent 16 years at Parkway, a traditional office REIT with a once-strong presence in Atlanta before its buyout by Cousins Properties.

But John says aside from leasing, he was responsible for all the buying and selling strategies for Parkway in Atlanta during his tenure, including the recent restructuring of assets away from the suburbs and into Buckhead. In total, John helped buy and sell $1.5B in assets.
