Tony Zivalich Leaves C&W To Head GA Tech Development

The key player in helping Georgia Tech launch its High Performance Computing Center project is now working for the esteemed university's real estate department.

Tony Zivalich accepted a job heading Georgia Tech's office of real estate development, succeeding John Majeroni, who retired. "I was not expecting a career change," says Tony, who joins Tech from Cushman & Wakefield in Atlanta. Tony had previously been the project manager for Tech's $375M HPCC, a 750k SF tower that will be home to Tech and other tech-related companies. Tony's a Notre Dame grad himself, but his daughter is graduating from Tech this spring, and two of his sisters are alumni.

Portman Holdings is developing the project recently revealed to be named Coda. Aside from the office space, there will be 40k SF of retail focused on the adaption of the historic Crum & Forster building, as well as an 80k SF data center, operated by Next Tier HD. Part of Tech Square campus, Coda will be the crown of an area that has already seen $1B in corporate investment, including from AT&T Mobility, Panasonic Automotive, Southern Co, Delta Air Lines, The Home Depot and Coca-Cola Enterprises. Portman's Travis Garland as well as JLL are leasing the office space at Coda, a move that C&W could not do because it's the project manager and there are conflict-of-interest concerns, Tony says.
