MARTA Lot Targeted for Redevelopment

Development within and around MARTA appears to be marching on. Atlanta-based Columbia Ventures filed for a development of regional impact with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for Columbia Park, a dense mixed-use urban project planned on the Avondale MARTA Station parking lot off East College Avenue. The project could include 338 apartment units, 34 condo units, 92 senior housing units, 17k SF of retail space, 4,500 in restaurant space, a 22,550 SF-grocery store and 40k SF of what the firm describes as “institutional space.” (We captured this rendering from the firm's website, but there was no description as to whether it represents this project or another.) Columbia's Jakob Von Trapp declined to comment until this summer.
