Medical Arts Transformation Into Hotel Moving Forward

A historic Downtown Atlanta building is about to get an EVEN chance at renewal.

The Medical Arts Building is expected to be transformed into an EVEN hotel, a hotel brand focused on health and wellness and operated by InterContinential Hotels Group, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The tower, overlooking the Downtown Connector, was built in 1927, but has largely remained vacant since 1995.

Late last month, developers submitted a permit seeking a green light from the city to begin work to turn the 12-story building into a 160-key boutique hotel. GBX Group purchased the Medical Arts Building for $12.7M in 2017.

The developer is partnering with Kim King Associates and Ross Hotel Partners on the project, the ABC reported. Cooper Carry principal Pope Bullock, the architect on the redevelopment, previously told the paper that it was looking to create a “cool and iconic” hotel in an area of Downtown better known for its large convention hotels.
