CarMax Opening Customer Experience Center In Peachtree Corners

CarMax is opening a customer experience center in Peachtree Corners, more than 20 miles to the north of Downtown Atlanta.

According to Peachtree Corners officials, CarMax will house 300 employees at 5707 Peachtree Parkway, a 98K SF mid-rise office building. Lease terms were not disclosed.

This is part of CarMax's announced rollout of the way the car dealership will sell cars: at home as well as in the store. The customer experience center will assist buyers online or over the phone with shopping for cars, officials said. CarMax operates 11 dealerships in Georgia.

“Atlanta is one of our oldest and most important markets, and we’ve found a strong and diverse talent pipeline in the area,” CarMax Chief Human Resources Officer Diane Cafritz wrote in a release.

This is the latest corporate win for Peachtree Corners in recent years. In 2016, claims management firm Crawford & Co. moved its headquarters from Central Perimeter to Peachtree Corners. In December, Hapag-Lloyd America, a division of German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd, announced that it is expanding its office presence with a $5.5M investment, adding 363 jobs to its service center with positions in administration, technical support and customer service.

CORRECTION, MARCH 6, 1:45 P.M. ET: CarMax operates 11 stores in Georgia. A previous version of the story incorrectly stated the number of stores. CarMax also is opening a new service center and not moving it from another location. The story has been updated.
