Let's call this one Beauty and The Beast. Block Real Estate Services' Bert Calvert sent us the second in our ongoing “Cool Cars” series, him standing by his '66 AMC Marlin. The cart comes from a line of sports cars first produced by American Motors Corp in the '50s run by former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's father, George Romney. This particular model, marketed as a “personal luxury car” by then-CEO Roy Abernathy, sports a 287 cid power plant and a V-8, Bert tells us. “While never actually labeled the 'Edsel' of AMC, the Marlin bombed pretty badly,” he says. They're rare, “but in this case, rare doesn't equal valuable. It cost more to mechanically enable this Marlin to safely drive the streets of Atlanta than it will ever be worth. Easily the most common question I get at stop lights and fuel stops----What is that?”
