WAITING FOR UGA

Football season in Athens will begin without Uga VIII. Sonny Seiler, whose family has bred the English bulldogs used as Georgia's mascot since 1956, tells The Macon Telegraph he's identified several puppies as potential successors to Uga VII (above, he passed away last year). But none of the possible pups-in-waiting will be ready by kickoff Sept. 4. Meantime, Russ, the brother of Uga VII will continue as a stand-in.
