Our Chicago reporter was on hand this morning at the Four Seasons Chi-town for the 22nd Association of Foreign Investors membership conference. We snapped AFIRE chairman Werner Sohier (of Holland?s second largest pension fund, PGGM) with executive director Jim Fetgatter. Jim tells us the 290 in Chicago today and tomorrow for the conference is record attendance, reflecting an upswing in foreign interest again in US real estate. He says Russia and Spain have become members for the first time in the last year, and great interest is being shown by the Far East. Indeed, Jim says that AFIRE, in addition to its upcoming winter conference in NYC and summer meeting in Europe, is considering a first one in China. |
