THE SCENE

On Friday, we headed to East Atlanta Village to sip and stroll through independently owned and operated shops for the Girl's Night Out  shopping experience. At I-kandie, we found owner Sandie Moore with store associate April Hawkins. She tells us the shopping events take place the third Friday of every month.

 

On the weekend, despite thunderstorms, hundreds of folks grabbed their galoshes and headed to Steeplechase Atlanta. Mother and daughter trio Liz Marr of UBS Financial Services, Ann Marr of Beaulie of America, and Rebecca Mar have attended the event rain or shine for the past seven years. They told us: "You can't miss it. The hat contest alone you have to see."

 

Many attendees took shelter from the rain under their tents: Jessica Vaughn of Lee Family Dentistry, Katie Roberson of Floyd Medical Center, Nicole Garman of Marietta Imaging Center, Danielle Graham (celebrating her birthday), and Nicole Stephens are native Georgians who've attended the races for many years (not that it looks like it could be too many years).
