. . . in the search for a new Sandy Springs Police Department  HQ. And it's down to just a handful of office buildings, says David Rubenstein,  principal of The Miller Richmond Co., which has been tapped by the City of Sandy Springs to find the new home.

The city is scouting the area for up to 40K SF of office space, moving the HQ from 5995 Barfield Rd. David was mum on the short list, but said whichever is chosen, it's still only a mid-term stop. The city government still has plans to one day transform a former Target shopping center on Roswell Road into a new City Hall with police HQ. (Half off on all kitchenware and sentencing!) So, will there be a jail inside an office building soon? Not quite—David tells us those are elsewhere: ?The only thing that makes the requirement unique as a police department is the interview rooms and an evidence room.? Good to know.

Here?s David hanging out with his buddy ?The Idol? in his Perimeter office. He's also working hard on an industrial build-to-suit  project near Hartsfield-Jackson airport. Gemu Valves, a German valve manufacturer, is planning on developing a 70K-100K SF  build-to-suit to replace its smaller facility at Duke?s  Camp Creek Business Center. This new facility will be the HQ for Gemu Valves, and include light assembly, warehouse, and office space. ?We hope to have a decision [on a location] by year end,? he says.
