| Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed received the board's Henry H. Robinson Award for his advocacy and work to help the CRE communty, including his recent streamlining of the City's permit process. The mayor vowed not to raise taxes over the next two years, citing the need for stability as Atlanta struggles to recover from the Great Recession. | |
| Tug o' war! Not only is Commercial Property Professionals' Furman Wood (accepting the gavel from CBRE's John Ferguson) the incoming president of the board, the former Marine also was named as this year's Community Service Award designee for his work with the USO. Furman has organized meet and greet sessions at Hartsfield with other volunteers to welcome troops home and offer any help. Furman says one of his goals as board prez is to interview and video past presidents to get their experiences on record. ?They still have much to offer to the next generation,? he says. | |
