RAULET SELLING DATA CENTER

Raulet Properties is taking advantage of a booming data center market  by putting one of its own, 345 Courtland  Street, up for sale. (A good parent always lets their baby out into the wilderness some day.)

We chatted with Raulet's Tyler Edgarton and Resource Real Estate's Tom Shafer at our Atlanta Data Center Boom! breakfast. Raulet has tapped Tom and Resources' C.J. Kelly  to sell the 108k SF data center, leased mainly to Level 3 (which recently renewed for 20 years). Windstream also leases 15k SF for its main switch in Atlanta. Tom calls 345 Courtland a ?mission critical gateway? in Atlanta (if you accept this mission, this message will self destruct).

Our panel at the Four Seasons in Midtown included Colliers International's Tim Huffman, T5's Pete Marin, Peak 10's  Matt Searfoss, Holder Construction's Tony TeVault (who quips he's convinced his 15-year-old daughter will require her own data center soon) and QTS' Tim Mertz, all of whom agreed that fundamentals are helping to keep the data center market firm for the foreseeable future. Rob Plowden, of our sponsor Sutherland, deftly moderated.

Tim Huffman (seen here utilizing a data center somewhere before the event) called Atlanta a ?premier emerging data center market? where the balance between retail and wholesale providers is strong, plus the cost of power (5.5 cents/hour) is lower compared to other parts of the nation. That was good news to the ears of more than 220 of our attendees.

We also chatted with Morrison Hershfield's Jon McCarthy, Melinda Parrish, and  Sean Smith. The group, another  valued sponsor, is helping Verizon Wireless develop data centers in California, NJ and Atlanta. Sean tells us Verizon is seeing a boom in mobile data usage.
