| We took this last week, as workers toiled in the Historic Fourth Ward Park, which ultimately will be a 30-acre Atlanta green space stretching from North Avenue to Ralph McGill. It's one of three BeltLine parks under construction, and by the far the biggest. The first phase of construction, a stormwater retention pond that will become the central amenity of the larger park, broke ground in 2008. The coming energy-neutral park has already helped spur development. The park is close to City Hall East, which Jamestown is buying with plans for redevelopment, an example of what BeltLine boosters want (and expect) to see. So far, 3.5 miles of multi-use trails (for walking, jogging, biking, and so on) have been completed. To learn more about the BeltLine, check out www.beltline.org.
