Yesterday, we snapped 1180 Peachtree, home to the new Georgia Bioscience Commercialization Center. The center has been formed through a partnership among Georgia Bio, the Georgia Research Alliance, the State of Georgia, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the Innovation Crescent business community and other groups. The goal is to help bioscience start-ups get off the ground, and the center?s operations will include a faculty of experienced execs. Dr.Laurence Downey, former CEO of Solvay Pharmaceuticals and one of the center?s supporters, says, ?This public-private partnership will serve as an economic development engine, driving 21stcentury advanced technology job growth in Georgia, by providing the resources to retain existing bioscience start-ups and attract new companies to our state.?
