Cost Management vs. Building Security: Can You Achieve Both?

With extreme pressure on property managers to run their operations efficiently, Datawatch Systems VP Ted Low (here with sons Tad, Taylor and Todd) suggests that it’s all about striking a balance between cost management and providing a safe, secure and convenient environment for their tenants. Drilling down further, more and more property managers are finding themselves distinguishing between expenses and investments, with the latter measured in terms of the tenant experience. With changing demographics among existing and prospective tenants, staying on top of the latest technologies is also very important and can impact occupancy rates. For example, Millennials prefer mobile access, that is, security access that is smartphone/app-based and not keycard-based. Another example would point to the old paradigm of a DVR and retrieval of videos now being replaced by much more reliable and efficient cloud-based servers.
