The man often credited with establishing the modern Midtown has passed away. James Edward “Jim” Cushman, 84, passed away this week. If you don't know him, he was one of the city's real estate visionaries, and could even be considered the first to spearhead mixed-use in Atlanta by developing Colony Square in the 1960s; it was the first project to incorporate office, retail and hotel into a single bundle. He also was part of teams that developed Lenox Towers in Buckhead and Paces Place, credited as the first condo in Atlanta, according to Wilbert Group's Tony Wilbert in his blog.
