| When we made plans to dine last night at Blue Ridge Grill, we had a hunch we?d run into some real estate types. We had no idea we?d bump into John Portman, who created a large chunk of downtown Atlanta and designed and developed tall towers around the globe. | |
We snapped this of John with real estate author (and former NREI publisher) Ben Johnson. Portman?s development firm is busy in South Korea building 151 Incheon Tower, a 151-story mixed-use tower that will rank as one of the world?s tallest when it opens in 2014. (Just in case you think he only rests on his laurels of building Atlanta's Peachtree Plaza, Hyatt Regency, and SunTrust Plaza, not to mention SF?s Embarcadero Center, LA's Bonaventure Hotel, Detroit's Renaissance Center, or China?s Shanghai Center.) Meanwhile, Ben?s in high demand as an expert on what makes another real estate titan tick (Sam Zell), months after Penguin published his unauthorized biography, Money Talks, Bullsh*t Walks. | |
