ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE

For a project expected to improve traffic-flow, those hard hats certainly make this look like a human stoplight. The Big Shanty Extension in Cobb County officially got underway yesterday. The four-lane divided extension will run nearly two miles from Chastain Road east across Town Point Drive and Barrett Lakes Boulevard. It will then tunnel under I-75 to reach a widened Big Shanty Road at George Busbee Parkway. Completion is expected winter 2012. On hand for the kick-off: representatives of the Town Center Area Community Improvement District, Cobb County elected officials, county and state departments of transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration.
