We snapped this Sunday as we arrived at the open house for theAtlanta Journal-Constitution. Last month, the AJC left its downtown digs at 72 Marietta St. for nearly 130k SF at 223 Perimeter Center Parkway in suburban Dunwoody. The daily paper?s move is the most-visible part of its plan to cut costs, and we hear it's working. Execs at Cox Enterprises, owner of the AJC, still have not said what will become of the downtown building. CBRE, which repped the paper in its lease in Dunwoody, is advising Cox. |
Families of AJC employees and fans of the paper checked out its new home, here gathering in the lobby as they wait for a tour of the newsroom. Occupying the sixth floor, the newsroom has an open, airy feel reminiscent of spaces at CNN and Bloomberg in New York. The floor features several areas for collaborative discussion and large digital displays that allow employees to critique content on ajc.com around the clock. |
