Apple And Whole Foods To Open In Williamsburg In The Same Week

Placeholder

We’ve known for over a year and a half that two of the heaviest hitters in retail would eventually open up shop on Williamsburg’s Bedford Avenue, about a block apart from each other.

Now we have opening dates. Apple will open its Williamsburg outpost on July 30, and Whole Foods opens its doors just down the street a mere four days later, Gothamist reports.

Apple signed a lease for a 20k SF storefront owned by Red Sky Capital at 247 Bedford Ave in December 2014, and Whole Foods has been preparing to open a 42k SF store at 242 Bedford Ave since summer 2014.

That property, owned by Aurora Capital and Midtown Equities, also has a 40k SF WeWork location slated to open there. WeWork signage has been visible on the second floor of the building since at least this past winter.

Trader Joe's also signed a lease for a store closer to the river, at 206 Kent Ave, just over a year ago. [Gothamist]
