Google Abandons Plan for First-Ever NYC Retail Store

After spending $6M renovating 131 Greene St in New York's SoHo neighborhood, Google abandoned its plans to open its first-ever physical retail store in NYC, Crain’s reports.

The shop was going to be one of Google’s first in the country and put the Internet behemoth into direct competition with Apple, and Microsoft as of last week. Now Google is hoping to sublease the 5.4k SF prime SoHo space for $2.25M a year, or $450 per SF. [Crain’s]
