One Room, Four CREW Chapters
Four local CREW chapters--NYCREW, AREW, CREW CT, and CREW NJ--gathered at 200 Park's Vanderbilt Suites late last week for a joint dinner and fundraiser for CREW Network Foundation, the national org'sphilanthropicarm. The foundation's goal is to bring more females into CREthrougheducatingabout career opportunities and providing mentors. With the nearly $4,600 raised: Trepp's Shari Linnick, Marcus & Millichap's Karen Dome, Zetlin & De Chiara's Lina Telese, Citibank's Laura Walker, Hutensky Capital Partners' Beth Ann Harney, KSS Architects' Sheila Nall, and CBRE's Patricia Riedel.
We also snapped 2010 foundation scholarship winner Emily Jones(right, with Akerman Senterfitt's Beth Zafonte). The Stanford urban studies grad--who in her early job search was told by a CRE exec that she'd never get a job in NYC real estate--learned about CREW Foundation through a university outreach program. She and Beth met at the national CREW convention that year, and she says Beth was "one of the many wonderful women I met at the convention that were willing and eager to help me find my way." The tips, coaching, and confidence she got from them played a huge role in her getting into the 14-month rotational training program at CBRE, where Emily's now an office broker.
