LAST NIGHT ON THE HIGH LINE

LAST NIGHT ON THE HIGH LINE
Charles Renfro and Albert Price, High Line, Oct. 16, 2012
Charles Renfro of High Line principal designer Diller Scofidio + Renfro, whom we snapped with Blesso Properties prez Albert Price, led the Princeton Alumni Real Estate Network on a walk along the famed park last night. Actually, Charles says, it's not a park but rather an apparatus for viewing the city, binoculars that magnify things we often overlook. The 1.5-mile (when finished) public space is supposed to be a place to do nothing (Jerry Seinfeld was a man before his time). Charles even shouted at runners to jog elsewhere.

We also snapped Princeton Alumni Real Estate Network founder Jeremy Glantz of Kensington Vanguard and Virgin Hotels Anthony Marino. Charles says millions more than expected have walked (and run, apparently) the High Line. And 80 CRE projects are in development or under construction around it, motivating other cities to try something similar. But, Charles says, "this can't happen in other cities because other cities are not New York City."
