| Last night at the Metro NY Appraisal Institute's holiday party at the Salmagundi Club, we snapped brand-new organization prez Theresa Nygard of KTR Real Estate Advisors with husband Tom Pratt, brother Wayne Nygard (an appraiser with Randolph, NJ's Neu Bridge), and daughter Josette. Theresa came to NYC to study art history at Columbia, but once she took a part-time job in appraisal, she realized she'd never get bored concentrating on New York City. Eventually, she had a big hand in the redevelopment of 42nd Street. Former boss Jerry Haims pointed out the unprecendented difficulty she faced of appraising property and land values and highest and best uses on sex shops, regular theaters, other theaters, and second-class hotels. |
| Stay with us on this one: Appraisers and Planners prez Ruth Agnese was a one-time co-worker of Theresa. Jerome Haims Realty's Eric Haims is lined up to be the Appraisal Institute's president in 2014. That's his mom Endrea and dad Jerry, along with Gerald Levy. Jerry was Appraisal Institute prez in 1983, and Theresa worked for him for 17 years. Other Jerome Haims Realty alum who are also past presidents of the Appraisal Institute: Pearson Partners' John Pearson, Federal Appraisal & Consulting managing partner Mark Pomykacz, and Jerome Haims Realty's Sheldon Gottlieb. |
