Hugo Neu's Kearny Point, the 3M SF redevelopment of the historic Kearny Shipyard, has nabbed a Smart Growth Award from New Jersey Future, which honors projects that promote land-use policies that help revitalize cities and towns, protect natural lands, provide robust transportation access, expand access to safe and affordable neighborhoods and fuel a prosperous economy. The company will be presented with the award June 7.

The development features Building 78, a flex office space that is already home to nearly 100 creators and innovators. This year, Hugo Neu will embark on the project's second phase, which includes the redevelopment of former craneway Building 100 into creative office geared toward larger companies. That will be complemented by 25 acres of new open and civic space.

Kearny Point’s master plan — conceived in partnership with Studios Architecture and WXY architecture + design — will feature high-efficiency building systems, solar and wind energy, green and blue roofs, naturalized detention basins and the removal of impermeable surfaces throughout the site, which will limit runoff into the Hackensack River.
