Sears Opening Smaller Store In Franklin

Placeholder

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is opening a store in Franklin at 1415 Liberty Pike, at the site of a former Walgreens. Unlike its standard department stores, Sears Hometown locations are smaller and focus on selling well-known appliance brands, as well as lawn equipment and other tools usually found at Sears locations. There are about 1,150 such stores nationwide.

The location will be owned and operated by William Talbot, who relocated to Franklin from Austin about a year ago and previously worked in insurance. Talbot told the Tennessean there's an opening for a smaller Sears in the area because of recent closings. One of Sears' previous stores in Davidson County, for instance, was at the Bellevue Center, but it closed a year ago for a redevelopment project. [Tennessean]
