Home Of The Tennessean Goes On The Block

Gannett Co, which owns The Tennessean, is planning to sell the building at 1100 Broadway housing the newspaper, and the 10-acre surrounding site. That will mean the newsroom and business operations will either lease space elsewhere, or hire a developer to build new space. The media company's printing operations will need to move as well.

The Tennessean's newsroom and business functions will need 65k SF to 75k SF, while the printing and distribution will need 100k SF to 125k SF, the Nashville Business Journal reports, citing Tennessean president Laura Hollingsworth. It's entirely possible the newsroom and other front-office functions will remain Downtown, while the printing will take industrial space at some distance. Gannett tasked CBRE with handling the listing. Bids for the property are due by the end of October. [NBJ]
