7 Cool Things To Do In Nashville This Summer
Never mind the "official" beginning of summer later this month. Summer's here, enjoy it. Here's our list of cool things to do this summer in Nashville: a little more unusual than most other lists, including music, art, history, sports and food.
Location: 1100 Fort Negley Blvd
The largest inland fort built during the Civil War, the ruins of Fort Negley are now a cool place to wander and wonder.
Goo Goo Shop
Location: 116 3rd Ave S
Get Goo Goos, Goo Goo merch, retro candies and more here. But the really cool thing is watching Premium Goo Goos being made by hand right in front of you. And then eating some.
Full Moon Pickin' Party
Location: 2500 Old Hickory Blvd
Bluegrass and roots pickers jam in circles under the trees in Warner Park, while three headlining acts perform on the main stage on the Friday nearest the full moon. This summer's parties are June 17, July 22 and Aug. 19.
Hatch Show Print
Location: 224 5th Ave S
Unique is cool, and Hatch Show Print is definitely unique. A working letterpress print shop since 1879, Hatch has been, and is, a force in Nashville's art and cultural identity. Take the tour.
Location: 4580 Rachels Ln, Hermitage
If you haven't been here since you took a school trip, it's well worth a look. President Jackson might not be long for the $20 bill, but he'll always have the Hermitage.
Location: 4304 Charlotte Ave
Alan LeQuire's a living Nashville treasure. See his works—besides the well-known Athena, pictured—at his 5k SF gallery, along with those of other talented artists.
Nashville Maroons Vintage Base Ball
Location: Various, but often at Bicentennial Capitol State Park
We like the Sounds as much as anyone, but sometimes there's nothing like a base ball game (correct spelling) like they played in the 1890s. That's what the Nashville Maroons offer.
