Vancouver's Onni Group is making plans to convert the 1920s-era Western Pacific building in DTLA into creative offices.

The building's upper floors, which make up more than 200K SF, would become creative office, while the ground level would be upgraded and remain set aside for retail, Urbanize LA reports.

The building, at 1023 South Broadway, was designed by Walker & Elsen.

Onni Group plans to add a fitness center, a conferencing facility and a tenant lounge.

Crews are working on upgrading the building's structural, electrical, elevator and air conditioning systems.

The nearby LEVEL Furnished Living, a 33-story extended-stay and nightly hotel tower owned by Onni Group, will offer discounts to the building's office tenants.

The Onni Group purchased the Times Mirror Square complex, the LA Times headquarters, last year for $120M.

It plans to build two high-rise towers at the site.

The Western Pacific office upgrades may be completed in time for tenants to move in by the middle of 2018.
