Boomtown Coffee, a small-batch specialty coffee roaster based in Houston, is opening inside Understory, the 35K SF community hub and culinary market inside Downtown's newest skyscraper.

The coffee café will join two other food and beverage options, East Hampton Sandwich Co. and Mama Ninfa's Tacos y Tortas, a new concept from The Original Ninfa's on Navigation. Capitol Tower is expected to deliver next year.

“Boomtown Coffee’s local roots and commitment to sourcing only the finest ingredients make them an ideal addition to Understory’s eclectic mix of food and beverage offerings," Skanska USA Commercial Development Executive Vice President Matt Damborsky said in a release.

"We believe their fresh, specialty beverages and baked goods will have wide appeal for all who frequent Downtown Houston, whether for business or leisure, and look forward to the opening of their newest café in 2019.”

The Understory location will be the third location for the company, with its first café at 300 Main St. in Downtown and a second at 242 West 19th St. in the Heights

“Boomtown is excited to be the first purveyor to bring true craft coffee into the heart of the Houston tunnels and provide the ever-moving downtown crowd better motivation to take a break from their days to enjoy a cup of coffee,” Boomtown Coffee CEO Andrew Loreman said in a release.

After build-out, Understory will become the first space in the Downtown tunnel network to be active seven days a week, from morning to night, according to the release. It will also offer high-speed WiFi, mobile device charging stations, engaging art, games and a fitness center for the exclusive use of building tenants.
