Midway’s East River Wins Another Big HQ

Orion Group Holdings Inc. plans to consolidate its three Houston offices to a space in Midway’s East River development.

East River

The company leased 65K SF across three full floors in Buildings 1 and 2, according to a news release. This brings East River’s office developments to 95% leased.

“We are thrilled to welcome Orion Group Holdings to East River,” Midway Chairman and CEO Brad Freels said in the release. “Joining leading companies like Anton Paar USA, Suderman & Young, and Port Houston who are establishing their headquarters here, their presence underscores the development's appeal to leading companies and its burgeoning role as a hub for maritime-linked industries.”

Orion Group Holdings provides marine, concrete and engineering services for commercial and civic projects. It provided concrete services for Residences at The Allen, the 35-story luxury condominium tower developed by DC Partners, according to its website.

Orion's current headquarters is at 12000 Aerospace Ave. in Houston, near Ellington Airport

Now, the company is moving into two East River buildings constructed by its own concrete segment, Orion Group Holdings CEO Travis Boone said in the press release. The new headquarters will offer flexible workspaces and advanced technology infrastructure.

“This new location will not only bring our teams together under one roof, but it will also provide a dynamic environment that fosters growth and creativity,” Boone said. “As we continue to expand, this move is a key step in our strategy to attract and retain top talent here at Orion.”

Port Houston last year purchased two tracts in East River’s first phase. It will build a 95K SF office building and a 300-space parking garage for its new headquarters.

Other companies that moved into East River offices completed during Phase 1 last year include Impact Networking, Method Architecture, Teal and Suderman & Young Towing Co.

The first phase of the 150-acre, $2.5B development included a five-story, 360-unit multifamily community called The Laura, about 250K SF of office space and 110K SF of ground-floor retail across office buildings, a parking garage, and freestanding plaza and bayou pavilions.
