After more than two decades in Cherry Creek, a Colorado-based home goods store is moving its flagship location to Denver’s Hale neighborhood.

HW Home announced it will move from its location on Detroit Street to 9+Co., a 26-acre urban infill community. HW Home expects to open the new 10K SF location at Eighth Avenue and Albion Street this spring. The new showroom will have 50% more space than the Cherry Creek store.

Although Cherry Creek is a popular retail destination, rents in the area have become untenable for some, HW Home co-founder Jim Hering told the Denver Business Journal. Traffic and parking are other concerns.

HW Home was founded in 1999 and first opened in Boulder before opening its flagship store in Cherry Creek in 2004. The company sells eclectic home decor.

The lease covers an initial 10-year term and brings retail space at 9+Co. to 75% leased, according to the DBJ. HW Home plans to close its Cherry Creek location in June.

9+Co. is an approximately 2M SF mixed-use development anchored by AMC Theatres and restaurants Postino and Culinary Dropout. Once complete, 9+Co. is expected to have 1,100 housing units, 150K SF of office space, and 40 to 50 retail stores and restaurants. Continuum Partners, M Development and Carlton Associates are developing the community.

Denver’s retail availability rate remained low in 2025, closing out the fourth quarter at 4.9%, according to CBRE.
