Forget the Coasts, Investors

Denver Office

More confirmation of Downtown Denver’s strong fundamentals: according to a recent JLL report, asking rents are over $32.50/SF, up 5.1% since a year ago. Investors from all over have noticed, JLL EVP Patrick Devereaux tells us, including international ones who used to prefer the coasts. The main overseas investors for Denver office come from Germany, Mexico, Canada, Scandinavia, Japan, and Korea. (Sounds like the real winner here is the airport.) They like the same things other investors do—the educated Millennial workforce, the Union Station development, a diversified economy, and lower cost of living in comparison to coastal cities—and the core employment drivers, such as energy, technology, aerospace, and financial services.
