Tax Appeals Deadline Looms

| If your Outlook Calendar doesn't pop up with the June 1 alert, the Kurz Group's Rick and Jeff Kurz won't let us forget to remind you: That's the deadline to appeal most CRE values. Property owners need to act aggressively to minimize their property tax exposure, Jeff tells us. With most of the 2010 'Notice of Proposed Values' mailed, the clock is ticking. Commercial property values have hit rock bottom, reaching a 40% decline since the peak in 2007, Jeff says. Meanwhile, rising vacancy rates and lack of credit availability are driving down the CRE market, yet property taxes continue to be the largest operating expense for most property owners.
