It’s a terrible rumor that women can’t work well together, says The Trocchio Advantage founder Liz Trocchio Smith. It’s one reason she and 17 other women in CRE collaborated to write Winning Ways in Commercial Real Estate: 18 Successful Women Unveil the Tips of the Trade in the Real Estate World. Liz says the idea is to help one another. Here’s Indigo Retail Advisors’ Linda Alexander, Liz, JLL’s Brenda Ford, Goodwin Commercial’s Pam Goodwin, Davaco’s Karin Sumrall, Corner Bakery’s Lisa Walker, and Franchise Development Consultant’s Jill Szymanski. The idea for the book came from Pam, who reached out to colleagues to contribute chapters sharing tips, strategies, and experiences to help readers gain insight into the industry. Pam tells us each chapter is written from a different view in CRE from leasing to property management, site selection, development, selling retail centers, law, architecture, and others.

Brenda relates that it’s never too late to take on new challenges, writing about her work abroad in Russia. Karin tells us her chapter (titled Not Your Typical Architect) explores the options available in commercial real estate for finding your passion. Authors not pictured: Dowdle Real Estate’s Lynn Dowdle, City of El Paso’s Jessica Herrera, Capital One Bank’s Donna Johnson, Shopping Center Investments’ Gwen MacKenzie, CBRE’s Jennifer Pierson, Container Store’s Valerie Richardson, Seale Realty Advisors’ Alice Seale, UCR’s Karla Smith, MCS Law’s Harriet Tabb, and Hunt Cos' Tina Wolfe. The book is available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and on the Kindle, and hit Amazon’s No 1 best-seller in real estate (out of 27,000 books), real estate investments, and hot new releases in real estate, and No 2 in women and business.
