Last month, experts at Bisnow's 5th Annual Data Center Boom event agreed the Chicago market has plenty of room for growth, after a banner 2015. Digital Realty Trust is putting its money where its mouth is with its latest Chicago project.

Digital Realty Trust is building a 12-story, 698k SF data center at 330 East Cermak Road, near McCormick Place. That's across the street from the 1.1M SF Lakeside Technology Center at 350 East Cermak, and the two buildings would be connected underground. The combined 1.8M SF would make this project the eighth-largest data center in the world.

Construction of the new annex is expected to take two years. When delivered, the new building will be capable of producing 54 MW of utility load, and would address growing market demand. Digital Realty Trust retained CBRE to handle pre-leasing, which is underway.

Learn more about the data center market at Bisnow's all-day national data center conference Nov. 10 in Dallas. Check out the stellar lineup (including Digital Realty Trust VP Bryan Marsh) here.
