It’s Go-Time for McCormick Place Construction

After major delays and budget concerns, construction is finally slated to begin this July on the McCormick Place-adjacent DePaul basketball arena and 1,200-room Marriott Marquis hotel, DNAInfo reports (with both slated to open in summer 2017). That’s just a couple of pieces of the puzzle in the South Loop’s renaissance, which also includes a new Green Line station on Cermak, the Chicago Housing Authority’s planned mixed-income housing development on the site of the former 1,006-unit Harold Ickes Homes and a growing number of luxury multifamily projects.
