Sometimes Bigger is Better
J.H. Cohn and Reznick Group, says George Klenovich the managing partner in Chicago
The recent merger of J.H. Cohn and Reznick Group means that what was once Reznick, goes from 10 offices to 25, says George Klenovich the managing partner here. Most important for its CRE practice, he adds, it now has a very strong presence in NYC (the corporate HQ) close to private equity firms and investors. Likewise, the merger enhances the group’s presence on the West Coast, home to vibrant development activity, big institutional investors (CalPERS, CalSTRS), and major private equity firms. The new firm is well positioned to take advantage of what George expects will be a “spike” in CRE activity post-election. Clearly, he says, the economy is moving in the right direction.

George says that the merger will help grow the new company’s CRE work by having a larger critical mass of professionals, their skills and contacts. In fact, George says that his office recently received a referral from a private equity firm that wants to work with folks based in NYC. Before the merger, he says, “We probably wouldn’t have gotten the call.”
