SunCap Property Group Breaks Ground On Draper Place In Charlotte

SunCap Property Group has broken ground on Draper Place, a 47-unit apartment property in Charlotte.

Draper Place is SunCap's first multifamily development in Charlotte, though its headquarters is here. The company has other offices in Pittsburgh, Denver and Charleston. Currently it is at work on The Ashby at South Hills Village Station, a 300-unit multifamily transit-oriented development in Pittsburgh.

The company's multifamily division head, Fred Bolt, has been involved in the development of such Charlotte properties as Metropolitan, Southgate condos, Phillips Place and Cotton Mills.

Draper Place is named after Earle Sumner Draper, who moved to Charlotte in 1915 and created landscape designs for Myers Park, and textile heir A.J. Draper, who was the president of the Chadwick-Hoskins Co. in the early 20th century and who lived in the Charlotte neighborhood of Elizabeth.

Cline Design is the architect for Draper Place, with Metrolina Builders as the general contractor. The property will be completed in late 2018.
