BK Partners, which consists of Conformity Corp, Peebles Corp and Stantec, outlined the community-engagement process for its proposed redevelopment of 17 acres in Uptown’s Second Ward. According to the partners, there will be several meetings this fall to discuss how community members can get involved and provide their input.

The plan for Brooklyn Village is massive, calling for 1,070 apartments (10% of which will be affordable housing), 170 residential condos, 680k SF of office space, 250k SF of retail, a 130-room hotel, a 170-room extended-stay hotel and nearly 4k SF of cultural space, reports the Charlotte Business Journal. All together, the project might take 10 years.

The partnership is in negotiations with Mecklenburg County, a process that's expected to take the rest of this year. The goal is to have a contract in place early next year, and to break ground shortly thereafter. [CBJ]
